Burleson lost two fumbles and threw two interceptions in its second straight loss.

Burleson head coach Chad Worrell said Burleson needs to cut out the turnovers and mental errors to improve.

Despite the turnovers and lopsided score, Worrell was proud of the players for their resiliency.

“We really played a lot better, crisper than we did last week, so I think we made a huge improvement from [week] one to [week] two.”

Burleson running back Nate Jackson scored on a one-yard rush to bring the score to 42-7 after the extra point with 5:33 left in the game.

Jackson rushed for 56 yards and a touchdown on eight carries on the scoring drive.

Burleson head coach Chad Worrell said Jackson did some good things on the scoring drive.

Jackson led Burleson with 99 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

“It was kind of his first big game to do that, and he got in there and got a groove,” Worrell said.

Frisco Lone Star running back Davian Groce scored five of Lone Star’s six touchdowns Friday.

Groce led Lone Star in rushing and receiving yards as he rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns on five carries and caught three passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Groce’s biggest play was an 88-yard rushing touchdown to give Lone Star a 7-0 lead after the extra point in the first quarter.

Lone Star gained 273 yards of offense against Burleson Friday. Burleson gained 193 yards in the loss.

Burleson’s goal is still to make the playoffs despite the 0-2 start, Worrell said.

Burleson hosts the Weatherford Kangaroos (1-1) at 7 p.m. September 8 at Burleson ISD Stadium.
