BURLESON – Ellie Stanley scored 12 points as the Centennial Lady Spartans beat their crosstown-rival Burleson Lady Elks 50-38 Tuesday at Centennial High School in the inaugural “Battle of The Hoops.”
After Burleson (2-6 in district, 8-18 overall) scored the first four points of the game, Centennial (4-4, 13-14) scored 11 unanswered points–six from two Ellie Stanley three-pointers–and outscored Burleson 19-9 in the first quarter.
Centennial’s first-quarter lead was large enough to keep things out of reach with the rest of the game being more even as Burleson outscored Centennial 10-9 in the second quarter and Centennial outscored Burleson by three points in the second half.
