BURLESON – The Burleson City Council approved a $247,604 contract with Terracon Consultants Inc. for a city-facility master-plan and condition-assessment and approved amending Burleson’s “Streets, Sidewalks and Other Public Places” policy Monday at City Hall.

The facility master-plan Terracon will develop with the City will compile a condition-assessment – including field observations, building-element inventory and assessment and documentation of deficiencies –, determination of remaining useful-service life and repair and replacement estimated-cost calculation.

The purpose of this master plan is to satisfy “increased interest” in long-term facility needs to support Burleson’s growth, according to public works and engineering director Errick Thompson’s presentation to the council.

Examples of Burleson’s long-term planning for facility needs include the police department-headquarters expansion, which costs $5 million more than what voters approved and the Public Library master plan that proposes a $52 million new library.
