BURLESON – City Council officially adopted the fiscal-year 2023-24 budget Monday at its special session at City Hall.
The budget includes an 8.8% increase in property-tax revenue, but, as Mayor Pro Tem Dan McClendon reiterated, Burleson is lowering its property-tax rate to $.6325 per $100-valuation from $.6572 in 2022-23.
“There’s been some people that have been trying to call attention to themselves by saying we’re raising the tax rate,” McClendon said. “We are not raising the tax rate. We’re lowering it as we have in the past four years straight.”
The budget and its rates will go into effect October 1 until September 30, 2024.
