BURLESON – Aviel Webster’s home run and four hits weren’t enough for the Burleson Elks varsity baseball team as they fell 7-6 to the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars Tuesday at Burleson High School.
The senior center-fielder Webster hit a RBI double to center field to tie the game 5-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The game remained tied through the standard seven innings and went to extras where Heritage took a 7-5 lead in the top of the ninth.
Webster hit a solo home run to right field to cut Heritage’s lead to 7-6 with one out in the bottom of the ninth. Burleson left two men on base and failed to score another run to tie the game.
Webster went 4-for-4 at the plate with the home run, two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Burleson and Heritage went blow-for-blow in the first two innings as each team scored one run in the first and three more in the second. Heritage right-fielder Landon Brewer drove in a run on a ground-out to second base to give Heritage a 5-4 lead in the top of the fourth.
Brewer went 2-for-4 with the RBI and a run scored.
Burleson (0-3 in district, 5-10 overall) is tied for ninth-place in District 8-5A.
