CLEBURNE – B.J. Evans scored 17 points to lead the Burleson Elks to a 35-20 victory over the Cleburne Yellow Jackets Tuesday at Jeff D. Cody Gymnasium.
After a slow start with Burleson (5-5 in District 8-5A, 20-12 overall) leading 4-2 at the end of the first quarter and Cleburne (0-10, 5-23) leading 9-8 at halftime, Burleson opened it up and outscored Cleburne 14-7 in the third and 13-4 in the fourth.
The senior forward Evans scored 13 of his game-high 17 in the second half and went 4-for-4 at the free-throw line in the fourth.
Burleson scored 13 points–including eight on 10 free throws–to Cleburne’s four in the fourth. Evans and junior forward Baron Harrison made seven of eight free throws late to seal the deal.
