Explosion in Vinewood
The Vinewood explosion was determined to be an old military flare, according to the Burleson Fire Department.
Burleson Police Department, Burleson Fire Marshals and Fort Worth Bomb Squad investigated the explosion in Vinewood Thursday after residents reported hearing a loud noise and seeing a flare in the sky.
Burleson holds first annual Parks Maintenance Rodeo
The Burleson parks and recreation department held its first annual “Parks Maintenance Rodeo” Thursday at Chisenhall Fields.
The rodeo showcased the parks maintenance team’s skills as staff competed in events using a backpack blower, backhoe, truck and trailer and a zero-turn mower.
Fletcher to represent Johnson and Ellis counties on NTTA committee
Burleson announced Friday Mayor Chris Fletcher has been appointed to serve on the North Texas Tollway Authority’s Contiguous County Advisory Committee as the Johnson and Ellis County representative.
Burleson wins Governor’s Community Achievement Award
Burleson announced Thursday Keep Burleson Beautiful and Burleson environmental services won the Governor’s Community Achievement Award at the annual Keep Texas Beautiful Conference in June.

“Let me drive the boat.” The Burleson Recreation Center (the BRiCk) will host its “Boat-nanza” event Saturday at 9 a.m. at the BRiCk. There will be music, games, prizes and awards, including the “Spearhead Award” for fastest boat, “Titanic Award” for most dramatic sinking and “On-Point Award” for most creative boat.
Meet The Councilors. Burleson City Council will meet Monday at 4 p.m. at City Hall to discuss the budget for fiscal year 2023-24 and other stuff.
Break fast for business. The Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly “Business over Breakfast” member-only event Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at Russell Farm Art Center.
With great power, comes great heels. The BACC will hold its annual “Power of Heels Fashion Show” July 28 at 11:30 a.m. at Lost Oak Winery.
