Izuagbe scores 21 as Elks fall in overtime on Senior Night
Elks fall to Midlothian-Heritage in final game of season

BURLESON – Tamaje Izuagbe scored a game-high 21 points in his final game for the Burleson Elks varsity basketball team as the Elks lost 64-63 in overtime to the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars Tuesday at BHS Arena.
In a valiant effort to leave the program with a Senior Night win, the senior guard Izuagbe scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter and overtime. He went four-for-four from the free-throw line in overtime.
In a back-and-forth game, the Elks led 15-12 at the end of the first quarter. Heritage outscored the Elks 35-26 in the second and third quarters, taking a 47-41 lead into the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Matthias Martin guard hit two three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help the Elks outscore Heritage 14-8 to force overtime. Martin finished with nine points.
Sophore forward Trey Hall (Izuagbe’s brother) was the Elks’ second-leading scorer with 16 points in the loss.
Senior forward Logan Mack scored four points in the Senior Night loss. His brother, junior guard Aaron Mack added nine points as he hit three three-pointers.
The Elks (5-11 in district, 15-20 overall) finished the 2023-24 season in seventh place.
Elks head coach Anthony Dees stated he’s looking forward to the team getting better in the offseason.
