MIDLOTHIAN — Tamaje Izuagbe scored 39 points as the Elks came back from down 16 in the fourth quarter to beat the Midlothian-Heritage Jaguars 72-71 Friday.
The senior guard Izuagbe added 10 rebounds, including nine offensive rebounds, to secure a double-double as he made 15-of-28 shots, including 2-of-7 three-pointers and made 7-of-12 free throws in his 39-point performance.
Izuagbe said he wanted to do everything he could to win.
“I guess the game was in my hands because my teammates kept passing me the ball,” Izuagbe said.
“[Izuagbe] was out there balling,” Elks head coach Anthony Dees stated in a text message.
Dees said he was very proud of the Elks for coming back and winning.
The Elks were down 49-42 at the end of the third quarter and were down 64-48 with 3:10 left in the game before they came back to win. The Elks outscored Midlothian-Heritage 30-22 in the fourth quarter.
