The Centennial Spartans varsity girls basketball team beat the Burleson Elks 49-38 Tuesday at Centennial High School in each teams’ first district game of the 2023-24 season.

Elks win Keene Tournament

Spartans off to 0-7 start
·The Centennial Spartans varsity boys basketball team is still in search of its first win of the season after losing five games since Friday
Centennial (1-0 in district, 8-2 overall) sits in third place in district after winning the crosstown-rivalry game against Burleson (0-1, 3-4), which sits in fifth place.
Burleson is scheduled to continue district play against the second-place Midlothian Heritage Lady Jaguars (8-2, 1-0) Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Burleson High School.
Centennial is scheduled to play a non-district game Monday and in a non-district tournament December 1 and 2 before playing its next district game against Midlothian Heritage December 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Midlothian Heritage High School.
Centennial plays the Ennis Lady Lions (5-4) in a non-district game Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Centennial High School and the Tascosa Lady Rebels (4-3) December 1 at 8:30 a.m. and two more opponents December 2 at Granbury High School in the Granbury Tournament.
Centennial also beat the Weatherford Lady Kangaroos (3-3) 61-40 in a non-district game Friday.
