Lady Spartans hit three home runs, take game-one of Regional Semifinal behind another Lindemuth complete game
Senior Martin and juniors Haynes and Stephens homer, senior Lindemuth pitches fifth complete game of playoffs as Centennial beats Abilene
STEPHENVILLE – Olivia Martin, Madison Haynes and Ryanne Stephens each homered and Bailey Lindemuth pitched a complete game as the Centennial Lady Spartans varsity softball team beat the Abilene Lady Eagles 13-2 Friday at Tarleton State University in game-one of the Regional Semifinals.
In her fifth complete game of the 2024 playoffs, the senior starting pitcher Lindemuth surrendered two earned runs off five hits and a walk and struck out seven batters over seven innings.

At the plate Lindemuth went 1-for-2 with three walks, a double, two RBIs, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Her two-run double in the seventh inning increased Centennial’s lead to 13-0.
The senior left-fielder Martin put the Lady Spartans on the board and gave them a 3-0 lead with a three-run homer in the top of the third inning. Martin went 2-for-5 with the home run, three RBIs, a stolen base and two runs scored.
The Lady Spartans kept their feet on the gas as the junior shortstop Haynes led off the top of the fourth inning with a solo shot to center, increasing their lead to 4-0. Haynes went 1-for-2 with the home run, two walks and two runs scored.
The Lady Spartans led off another inning with a home run—this time from the senior first-baseman Stephens—to increase their lead to 6-0. Stephens went 2-for-3 with the home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored.

Senior third-baseman Hannah McCurry followed Haynes’s homer with a triple to center and scored on junior catcher Madelyn Hickey’s double to left to bring the score to 5-0 in the fourth.
McCurry drove in three more runs with a bases-clearing double to bring the score to 9-0 in the top of the seventh. She finished 2-for-4 with the triple and double, three RBIs and two runs scored.
The Lady Spartans scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to take a 13-0 lead into the final half inning of the game.
Following McCurry’s three-run double, the Lady Spartans scored two more–one on senior center-fielder Alyssa Mayner’s RBI single–before Lindemuth lined a two-run double to right to bring the score to 13-0 with one half inning to go.
The District 8-5A Champion Lady Spartans can end the series and move onto the Regional Finals with a win over Abilene in Game-Two Saturday at noon at Tarleton State University.
