BURLESON — The No. 3-ranked Mansfield-Summit Jaguars beat the the Burleson Elks Friday at Burleson High School to remain undefeated in District 8-5A.

Junior guards Theo Brennan and Caleb Richard and junior forward Michael Gibbs each scored a game-high 10 points to lead first-place Summit (11-0 in district, 25-6 overall) past the fifth-place Burleson Elks (5-6, 20-13).

Summit struck first as Richard hit a three-pointer to take a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter.

Richard finished with 10 points, two steals, a block and a rebound. He dunked on a fastbreak in the second half.

Burleson got on the board when senior forward B.J. Evans made a free throw to cut Summit’s lead to 3-1 in the first.

Evans drew the foul attempting a layup on a fastbreak pass from freshman guard Landon Logan.

Logan scored a team-high eight points and led Burleson with three assists.

After outscoring Burleson 20-11 in the first quarter, Summit shut Burleson out in the second quarter and never looked back.
