CLEBURNE – The Cleburne Railroaders announced their new coaching staff, including former Texas Ranger Pete Incaviglia as the new manager Wednesday.
Joining Incaviglia on the staff are Rudy Jaramillo and Brooks Carey as the hitting coach and pitching coach, respectively.
Incaviglia, who played outfield for the Rangers from 1986-90, most recently managed the Tri-City ValleyCats of the Frontier League in Troy, New York. Tri-City won more games under Incaviglia than under any manager in the team’s 21-year history as they went 159-127 from 2021 to 2023.
Incaviglia won the 2018 Atlantic League championship as manager of the Sugar Land Skeeters (now Space Cowboys) and the 2015 American Association championship as manager of the Laredo Lemurs.
“I am incredibly grateful to be named the next manager of the Cleburne Railroaders,” Incaviglia stated in a press release Wednesday. “I could not be more excited to return to the state of Texas, which has played an important role in my baseball career. I look forward to connecting with the Cleburne community and can’t wait to build on the success that the team has had in recent seasons.”
Tom Vander Veen, managing member of Railroaders Baseball Partners LLC, referenced the three coaches’ “immense” experience in Wednesday’s press release.
Jaramillo served as the hitting coach for the Houston Astros from 1990 to 1993, the Rangers from 1995 to 2009 and the Chicago Cubs from 2010 to 2012. He was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.
Carey won the 2019 Can-Am League championship as manager of the New Jersey Jackals and served as Tri-State’s pitching coach under Incaviglia in 2023.
Incaviglia replaces Logan Watkins as manager. Watkins is now managing the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
The three new coaches will participate in a public meet-and-greet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at La Moderna Field.
