Sports Report: Izuagbe scores 21 in Elks’ first district win
Plus, Spartans head basketball coach reflects on the team’s district struggles, Lady Elks and Lady Spartans each go 1-1 in district play
Hello, readers,
Welcome to the first edition of The Burleson Buzz Sports Report.
While I’m publishing this online newsletter part-time outside my full-time job, I’m unfortunately not able to cover every game of every high school sports team in Burleson. I still think the teams deserve to be recognized for their efforts though, and I know people want to read about those efforts.
This weekly sports report, which will be published every Sunday moving forward, will highlight key Burleson and Centennial high school sports events in one newsletter instead of multiple brief game recaps sent throughout the week.
In this week’s report, the Burleson Elks earn their first district win of the 2023-24 season behind 21 points from Tamaje Izuagbe, Spartans head basketball coach Trovocia Jackson reflects on the Spartans’ 0-4 start in district, the Lady Spartans bounce back against Seguin after falling to #1-ranked Timberview and Kendall Carlock scores 17 in Lady Elks’ victory over Seguin.
