🏀Burleson routes Mineral Wells behind double digits from Haas, Silva, Harrison
BURLESON — Parker Haas, Nate Silva and Baron Harrison each scored double digits as the Burleson Elks beat the Mineral Wells Rams 72-50 Tuesday at Burleson High School.
Burleson (8-4) never trailed and led Mineral Wells (0-7) by as many as 27.
Burleson’s defense was active the whole game and finished with seven steals and seven blocks.
“We just kind of practice it every single day,” Burleson head coach Anthony Dees said of his defense aggressively stealing the ball and pressuring the opposing offense. “We’re trying to figure out what works for us and how we’re guarding gaps and how much of the floor we’re willing to give up and trying to get guys in the right position.”
🔵🏀🔴Lady Elks host Lady Spartans
The Burleson Lady Elks (3-7) host the crosstown-rival Centennial Lady Spartans (7-5) Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Burleson High School in each team’s first district game of the 2024-25 season.
Burleson and Centennial split the series in 2023-24 with Centennial winning the first matchup 49-38 in November 2023 at Centennial and Burleson getting revenge and evening the series with a 45-28 victory in January at Burleson.
🏀Spartans beat King
The Centennial Spartans (7-2) beat the King Lions (5-4) 61-55 Friday in the 2024 Hoopfest Tournament.
🏀Lady Spartans beat Ennis
The Centennial Lady Spartans (7-5) beat the Ennis Lady Lions (6-10) Tuesday at Kerr Middle School to complete the program sweep of Ennis with the junior-varsity and freshman teams also winning.
