The City Council allocated its votes in the Johnson and Tarrant counties Central Appraisal District Board election, approved raising impact fees and discussed increasing parks-and-recreation fees at its meeting Monday at City Hall.
The council allocated 298 votes to John Wood and 75 to Duaine Goulding in the Johnson County Central Appraisal District Board election and all six of its votes to Gary Losada in the Tarrant County Central Appraisal District Board election.
The 298 votes to Wood give him enough to be elected.
The council also approved city-staff’s recommended roadway impact-fee increases and water and wastewater impact-fee changes at the meeting.
“I’m real concerned about single-family [home developers] saying ‘To heck with you,’” councilmember Phil Anderson said, concerned about the impact-fee increases. “They’re not going to build here. They’ll go down to Joshua or some place.”
The council also discussed increasing parks-and-recreation fees, including increasing Burleson Recreation Center (BRiCk) fees to lower the percentage of the BRiCk’s costs that are paid for by government-subsidy.
