City Council discusses PD building expansion, approves bond sales and discusses legislation
Council postponed the Police-Department building-expansion decision two to four weeks because the available expansion options require spending more than voters approved or postponing potentially necessary construction.
Council also approved Burleson selling a $9.4 million bond package and a $32.9 million bond package at the meeting Monday.
Council also discussed recent Texas legislation involving Texas taking away city ordinances at the meeting Monday.

Coming up
The Boot Bowl. The Centennial Spartans and Burleson Elks football teams will faceoff Friday at 7 p.m. at Burleson ISD Stadium for The Boot Bowl. I’ll be there covering the game with my dad. Apparently, it’s no longer called the Battle of The Boot. That’s probably something the most-trusted local news source should know.
Giddy up, Gala. The BACC will host the “2023 Cowboys for Kids Gala” Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Cleburne Conference Center. The gala benefits the Children’s Advocacy Center of Johnson County and will include food, live music and auctions.
The most important meal of the day month. The BACC will host its monthly member-only “Business over Breakfast” event Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at the Burleson Recreation Center (BRiCk).
Burleson’s Finest (Food). BTX Best Fest begins September 1. Burleson is offering a chance to win a grand-prize package from participating businesses for contestants with a passport stamped by at least half the participating restaurants, which will be submitting “State Fair-inspired culinary creations” for the September contest.
