BURLESON — The Centennial Spartans kept their feet on the gas after a hot start en route to a 68-30 win over the crosstown-rival Burleson Elks Tuesday at Burleson High School.
Junior guard Abram Hicks scored nine points in the first quarter to lead the Spartans to an early 21-5 lead. The Spartans then outscored the Elks in every quarter and surrendered just four points in the fourth quarter.
After stressing the importance of the Spartans being consistent last week, Spartans head coach Trovocia Jackson was proud of his team for their consistency in the win, he said after the game.
Hicks scored 11 points, tied junior forward Jared Cox with a team-high eight rebounds and added three assists and two steals in the win.
The Lady Elks evened the score for Burleson on the cross-town rivalry night and evened the score in the season series against the Lady Spartans
