Burleson elects McClendon, Johnson and Boedeker to city council
BURLESON – Burleson voters reelected Mayor Pro Tem Dan McClendon and council member Victoria Johnson and elected Alexa Boedeker to the Burleson City Council Saturday.
In the closest race, Boedeker, a realtor with government and business experience in Burleson, beat Brandon Crisp, a software engineer with a master’s degree in political administration, by a count of 689 votes to 552 to take Place Three on the council.
Johnson, winning reelection for her second term on Place One of the council, beat Veteran and Burleson Police Department volunteer Steve McAnally with 961 votes to McAnally’s 322.
Running unopposed, McClendon won reelection for Place Five with 1,100 votes. He’s been on the council since 2007 and has been mayor pro tem since 2014.
Lady Spartans ride huge second inning to Regional Quarterfinal victory
SAGINAW – The Centennial Lady Spartans scored six runs in the second inning and never looked back as they beat the Colleyville-Heritage Lady Panthers 9-1 in the Regional Quarterfinal Thursday at Saginaw High School.
Senior starting-pitcher Lindemuth pitched a complete game (her fourth of the playoffs) — surrendering one earned run off three hits and two walks and striking out six batters — and went 1-for-2 with two walks at the plate in the win.
After taking a 3-1 lead in the top of the first, the Lady Spartans ran away with it in the second inning, scoring six runs — three on junior catcher Madelyn Hickey’s bases-clearing triple — to increase their lead to 9-1.
Hickey went 2-for-3 with a walk and the three-run triple.
