SOCCER: Lady Spartans season ends with overtime loss in Area Championship game
GRAHAM and KENNEDALE – The Centennial Lady Spartans varsity soccer team’s season ended with a 2-1 overtime loss to the Wichita Rider Lady Raiders in the Area Championship game Friday at Graham High School.
After finishing in second place in District 8-5A and beating the Birdville Lady Hawks 2-0 to win the Bi-District Championship Monday at Kennedale High School, the Area-Championship loss leaves Centennial with an 18-3 overall record.
BASEBALL: Webster reaches base nine times as Elks sweep Seguin
SEGUIN and BURLESON – Aviel Webster reached base in all nine of his plate-appearances as the Burleson Elks varsity baseball team swept and outscored the Seguin Cougars 34-2 last week.
The senior center-fielder Webster went 1-for-1 in each game and walked four times in Tuesday’s 22-0 win in Seguin and three times in a 12-2 win in Burleson Friday. He drove in five runs and scored five of his own in the two-game sweep over the Cougars.
SOFTBALL: Lindemuth and Lady Spartans bounce back from loss, shut out Lady Elks
BURLESON – Bailey Lindemuth pitched a six-inning shutout and hit a home run as the Centennial Lady Spartans varsity softball team beat the crosstown-rival Burleson Lady Elks 10-0 Tuesday at Burleson High School in their first win since suffering their first loss of the season March 23.
The senior pitcher Lindemuth earned the win as she shut out the Lady Elks through a complete six-inning game, striking out eight batters and surrendering three hits and two walks. She went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and three total RBIs.
BASEBALL: Spartans split series with Timberview
MANSFIELD and BURLESON – The Centennial Spartans varsity baseball team split its season series with the Mansfield Timberview Wolves last week with a 4-2 win Thursday at Centennial following a 10-0 loss Tuesday at Timberview.The Burleson Buzz is a reader-supported publication. Tough week for Lady Elks Softball
BURLESON and MIDLOTHIAN — The Burleson Lady Elks varsity softball team suffered a 10-0 loss to the crosstown-rival Centennial Lady Spartans Tuesday and a 13-12 walk-off loss to the Midlothian Heritage Lady Jaguars Thursday.
