Lady Spartans advance to Regionals behind Lindemuth’s two complete games
FORT WORTH – Bailey Lindemuth pitched two complete games as the Centennial Lady Spartans varsity softball team beat the Azle Lady Hornets two games to one in the Area Playoffs last week at Chisholm Trail High School.
The senior starting-pitcher pitched a six-inning shutout, surrendering two hits and a walk with four strikeouts, in a 10-0 game-one victory Wednesday and surrendered two runs (one earned) off six hits and three walks and struck out six over seven innings pitched in the series-deciding 9-2 game-three victory Friday.
Phillip Tanner grateful to lead Elks against the world as new head coach
Burleson High School has a new football coach – former Dallas Cowboys running back and special teams assistant and former Burleson Elks offensive coordinator Phillip Tanner.
The Burleson Independent School District named Tanner as the Burleson High School head football coach and athletic coordinator at the Burleson ISD School Board meeting April 22 at the Burleson ISD Administration Building.
Introducing himself with a speech to kick off a meeting with the community April 23 at the Burleson High School indoor facility, Tanner guaranteed the players, parents and community will be proud to be Burleson Elks with him as head coach.
“We will unite a community through a first-class football team,” he said. “Day in and day out, that’s our goal.”
Takeaways from Cleburne Railroaders Media Day
CLEBURNE – The Cleburne Railroaders held their annual “media day” ahead of the beginning of the club’s eighth season in Cleburne on Opening Day Thursday at La Moderna Field.
Every year, Media Day offers journalists and other media members an exclusive sneak peek into the team’s preparations, aspirations and the players who will grace the diamond for the upcoming season.
The stadium came alive with cracking bats and the sound of mitts echoing across the field as the players engaged in their warm-up routines, fine-tuning their skills for the challenges ahead. The coaches and players were getting ready to build on last year’s success.
The Railroaders, making a third consecutive playoff appearance, lost to the Chicago Dogs in a first-round best-of-three series. With the disappointment of ultimately losing the series after stealing game-one, the Railroaders look to raise expectations with what the team believes to be a very stacked roster.
