Target bomb threat
Burleson police evacuated Target and multiple nearby businesses upon an alleged bomb threat at Target Thursday.
City Council Special Session
Burleson City Council discussed the fiscal-year 2023-24 budget and established new City Council committees Tuesday at City Hall in a special session.
Burleson city manager Tommy Ludwig presented an overview of the fiscal-year 2023-24 city budget to City Council for its direction before submitting the final draft.
Burleson will hold a public hearing on the budget September 5 at City Hall.
Before submitting the budget, Burleson will modify it and delay the Shannon Creek Park and Hidden Creek softball relocation projects to use those funds on parks and recreation maintenance.
Councilmembers Victoria Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Adam Russell and Larry Scott expressed support of the parks and recreation budget modifications.
This follows Scott’s request to hold parks and recreation projects for a year after investigating complaints.
City Council also appointed members to restructured city council committees Tuesday.
City council committees:
Public Safety and Municipal Court Committee: Councilmembers Ronnie Johnson, Victoria Johnson and Larry Scott
Infrastructure and Development Committee: Mayor Chris Fletcher, Mayor Pro Tem Dan McClendon and councilmember Phil Anderson
Finance Committee: McClendon, Adam Russell and Scott
Community Service Committee: Anderson, Johnson and Johnson
Community and Intergovernmental Committee: Fletcher, Anderson and Victoria Johnson
Community Policies and Valuation Committee: McClendon, Russell and Scott
