Weekly Newsletter: Burleson may be building a new library, Citizens raise concerns to City Council over Fire Department misusing ambulances
Plus, The Burleson Buzz Sports Report and more
Hi, readers,
Burleson City Council met last week and received an update on the fire department’s ambulance use, which some citizens raised concerns over.
Prior to citizens raising concerns about the ambulance-use, some citizens raised concerns over Burleson building a new library. While a lot of people in the comment section seemed to feel good about a new and improved library, there were plenty of people who’d prefer to see their tax dollars spent elsewhere.
What do you think about a new library in Burleson?
Anyway, onto the news.

Burleson may be building a new library
December 5 at the Library Board meeting at City Hall, Burleson Library deputy director Sara Miller presented a library master plan featuring concepts for a new 60,505-square-foot public library.
The new library would cost $52.5 million if construction began in 2024, according to the presentation. The construction of a new library isn’t included in the city’s five-year capital plan. The construction costs are estimated to increase 6% every year.

Citizens raise concerns to City Council over Fire Department misusing ambulances
Three Burleson residents spoke to the Burleson City Council at its meeting December 11 at City Hall to address the fire department’s use of ambulances for non-emergency services.
From October 1 to November 30, 118 of the Burleson Fire Department’s 725 transports were non-emergency (or interfacility) transports, according to assistant fire chief Casey Davis’s presentation to the city council. During that time, CareFlite ambulances completed 59 emergency transports of Burleson patients.

A bigger, better library, filled with banned books is a threat to stupid people. Only the stupid would oppose an expanded library.
