Hello, readers,
Thanks for supporting The Burleson Buzz and tuning into another edition of the weekly newsletter.
Election Season is upon us. Three people have officially filed for city council candidacy in the May 4 election, and in this week’s newsletter you’ll find a fairly brief overview on those candidates.
You’ll also find the Sports Report, which goes over an inconsistent week from Burleson’s and Centennial’s varsity basketball teams, and The Buzz Bulletin, a list of happenings in Burleson this week.
Tuesday is my dad, Bill O’Brien’s birthday. Wish the sportswriter a happy birthday in the comments.
Onto the news.

On the ballot are places one, three and five, held respectively by Victoria Johnson, Ronnie Johnson (not related) and Mayor Pro Tem Dan McClendon.
Victoria Johnson and McClendon are running for reelection. Ronnie Johnson is electing to retire.

In case you missed it,
Even in election season, we are a community
There will be much contentious conversation stirred up on Facebook and webpages, and the First Amendment protects that right. But having that right does not bestow it with truth; there will be many “facts” thrown about on social media that may have only the barest relationship to reality in the upcoming months.
It therefore is incumbent upon the Burleson city and school-district voters to make themselves aware of the true details of the issues in these campaigns.
Baking with The Buzz: January
It seems the girl world has quickly shifted gears to Valentine’s Day, so naturally I had to jump on board and make a nice strawberry dessert to help prepare everyone for Galentine’s Day parties.
This month we are making strawberry shortcake cookies!
