BURLESON ā Parker Haas, Nate Silva and Baron Harrison each scored double digits as the Burleson Elks beat the Mineral Wells Rams 72-50 Tuesday at Burleson High School.
Burleson (8-4) never trailed and led Mineral Wells (0-7) by as many as 27.
Burlesonās defense was active the whole game and finished with seven steals and seven blocks.
āWe just kind of practice it every single day,ā Burleson head coach Anthony Dees said of his defense aggressively stealing the ball and pressuring the opposing offense. āWeāre trying to figure out what works for us and how weāre guarding gaps and how much of the floor weāre willing to give up and trying to get guys in the right position.ā

Mineral Wells senior guard Charlie Ramsay scored a game-high 15 points.
Haas got Burleson going by dishing an assist on freshman guard Landon Loganās three-pointer, then stealing the ball from Mineral Wells and dishing another assist to Silva to give Burleson a 5-0 lead early in the first quarter.
Haas added two assists, two rebounds and two steals, and Silva added two rebounds, a steal and a block in Burlesonās win.
Burleson junior forward Harrison scored 10 points and added five rebounds and two steals.
Burleson senior forward B.J. Evansāone of Burlesonās go-to scorersāled the game with six assists and three blocks.
Dees said Evansās facilitating made a āhuge differenceā and said Evans understood that āeverybody feels goodā when he passes out of double teams.
Burleson played its entire roster in the win.
āI think it helps the team morale,ā Dees said after the game. āI think it does when everyone gets to get out there and play and kind of do something.ā
Burleson outrebounded Mineral Wells 39-18 with sophomore forward Aiden Rocha grabbing a game-high 11 and junior forward Jayden Bracey grabbing eight.
Rocha also tied Evansās game-high three blocks and added eight points.
Dees said he thought Burleson played hard and is still a young, learning team.
āWe just had a good night tonight, and I know for a fact tomorrow weāve got to find a way to be better,ā Dees said.
Burleson will look to maintain momentum when it plays in the Aransas Pass Tournament Thursday through Saturday in Aransas Pass before facing the Ranchview Wolves (4-2) Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Ranchview High School in Burlesonās last non-district, non-tournament game of the season.
