Elks senior forward B.J. Evans earns All-Tournament honors as team goes 4-2 in tournament
KEENE — The Burleson Elks varsity basketball team senior forward B.J. Evans earned All-Tournament honors as Burleson took third place in the Keene ISD Tournament last week at Keene High School.
Burleson (7-3 overall) went 4-2 in the tournament and started with a 52-6 victory over the Trimble Tech Bulldogs (0-8) Thursday to improve to 4-0 to start the season for the first time under head coach Anthony Dees.

Burleson bounced back with a 59-38 win over the Diamond Hill-Jarvis Eagles (4-5) and a 59-32 win over the Polytechnic Parrots (2-7) Friday.
Burleson lost 68-53 to the North Central Texas Academy Pioneers (14-2) Saturday before closing the tournament out with a 58-39 win over the IDEA Monterrey Park College Prep Bears (2-3) later Saturday.
After the tournament, Burleson lost back-to-back games for the first time in the 2024-25 season, losing to the Pflugerville Connally Cougars (5-1) 62-56 Monday at John B. Connally High School in Austin and 78-55 to the Granbury Pirates (5-5) Tuesday at Granbury High School.
Burleson will look to get back in the win column when it returns to action next week, hosting the Mineral Wells Rams (0-5) Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Burleson High School before competing in the Aransas Pass Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
