Lady Elks and Lady Spartans fall in Bi-District Championship games, Izuagbe scores 21 in last game as Elk, Spartans eliminated, The Buzz Bulletin weekly event-calendar
Last week was a significant week for Burleson and Centennial basketball as the 2023-24 high school varsity basketball season ended with the record-breaking Lady Spartans and Lady Elks each losing their respective Bi-District Championship games, the Elks falling in overtime on their Senior Night and the Spartans being eliminated from playoff-contention as Seguin won fourth place with a tiebreaker.
More significant news from Burleson High School was the Burleson Police Department’s discovery of a handgun inside the vehicle of an unauthorized person BPD arrested for trespassing at the school. BPD stated it wouldn’t provide further details while the investigation is ongoing at 6:10 p.m. Thursday.
I wish I had more to publish on the handgun-at-BHS situation, but I haven’t had time to contact anyone about it because I’ve been busy with my day job and personal stuff.
Being too busy kept me from publishing a sports report last week, but all the articles I wrote last week that are in the newsletter today are sports articles.
With basketball season finished, I’m shifting my sports-coverage focus to baseball and softball. To the soccer players, powerlifters, cheerleaders and other student-athletes The Burleson Buzz hasn’t covered, please be patient as I look to expand sports coverage.
Along with this week being the first week covering baseball and softball, I’ll be covering the Burleson City Council meeting Tuesday (not usual Monday because of President’s Day).
